The K-H Marine Swin Ranger 22 diesel motor/sailer is a seaworthy craft based on traditional round bilge lines.
There are three versions available.
MK.1 A mast head sloop rigged four berth
MK.2 Ketched rigged four berth
MK.3 Fisherman two berth
All versions are of G.R.P hand laid-up to the following specifications:-
9 oz. minimum on hull. 16 ozs. on keel, transom, bow, bilge and approximate intervals of 3ft. forming reinforcing ribs.
Superstructure is laid-up to 8 ozs. with molded in beams and stiffening, deck fitting pads where required. Incapsulated end grain balsa wood on cabin roof and fore deck areas. Hull and
superstructure bonded together with hatch to fore cabin. The superstructure is of one piece forming a self draining cockpit.
Keel sole and bilge keels are of hard wood through bolted with galvanized bolts. Rubbers are of lioko hard wood bolted and doweled. Deck fittings are of anodized aluminium other than rigging. 'U'
bolts, chain plates, stemhead roller, main horse, tabernacle and all fastenings are stainless steel or galvanized. Pulpit is of stainless steel.
Floor in main saloon is laid with 1/2" exterior grade ply wood on bearers 2" x 3" glassed into hull. Carpeted.
Bulkheads are of 3/8 exterior grade ply faced with decorative faced ply wood and oiled. The fore cabin interior has a two berth moulding to port and starboard with store space beneath. The main
saloon contains a 6’ settee to starboard which converts to a double berth and a small chart table. Port side is galley with stainless steel sink with drainer and a Wale hand pump plumbed to
water container and the sink discharge to skin fitting overboard. A two burner cooker with grill, cupboards beneath. The main saloon has full standing headroom which also contains full standing
headroom toilet compartment fitted with a Porta Potti 44 – a self contained fresh water flushing portable toilet, with overhead vent to cabin roof. The cabin interiors are fully lined down to
deck level with Suwide expanded vinyl lining. The interior of hull is lined with needle punched carpeting throughout except in toilet compartment. Table in main saloon can be stowed away.
Main cabin doors are of double faced marine grade teak ply with hardwood framing, all exterior woodwork handrails etc. are teak oiled finished. Rudder and tiller is of marine ply with hardwood
cheeks and galvanized bars set in center leaf for extra strength. Tiller is of hardwood. Dual controls can be fitted to standard boat as an extra. All berths are fitted with 3” foam cushions
upholstered with fabric covers.
The engine is a Yanmar Y.S. 12 h.p. electric start diesel and includes fuel tank, alternator, 3:1 marine reduction gearbox, control panel, electrics, battery, exhaust pipe, muffler and skin
fittings. Engine is flexibly mounted on hardwood engine bearers glassed in. Stern gear includes stainless steel shaft, flexible coupling, stern tube and propeller.
Mast and spars are of anodized aluminium with rigging and bottle screws of stainless steel. Winches and fore sheets tracks depending on rig.
Navigational lights to all craft are of international standard, fitted and wired to internal wiring circuit of six way switch panel, fused, wired to two strip lights to main saloon, one light to
forward cabin and toilet compartment. windows are of anodized aluminium frames with toughened glass the two forward ones opening.
Mk.1 Terylene sails 115 sq.ft. foresail, 120 sq.ft. mainsail.
Mk.2 Terylene sails 68 sq.ft. foresail, 110 sq.ft. mainsail, 60 sq.ft mizzen.
Mk.3 Mizzen if required as an extra.
The MK.3 Swin Ranger Fisherman is of the same specification as the above the only difference being a short wheelhouse, two berths only and a large self-draining deck area to aft of the wheelhouse
with storage compartments.
